If I am registering a 2012 Kia Optima in 2022, I purchase from a private party for $7,000 for example, I would pay $155.00 for the Illinois title fee, $151.00 for new Passenger Plates, since I live in Schaumburg (Cook County) Illinois <take the current year 2022 – 2012 (year of the vehicle) = 10 years old. I would pay $115 for Illinois Private Party Vehicle Use Tax + $90 Cook County Private Party Use Tax. The total cost to register my vehicle in Illinois would be $511.00
